Obituary of Madeleine Jo-Ann Lampkin

April 6, 1940 ~ April 24, 2024

On the early morning of April 24th, Madeleine Lampkin (Flanagan) passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas, Ontario at the age of 84. She had been surrounded by her family and loved ones during the days leading up to her passing.

Madeleine was a dedicated Catholic woman who also happened to be an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. Madeleine was a hard working woman who spent over 44 years working at various financial institutions within the city of Hamilton including Toronto Dominion, Bank of Nova Scotia, AVestal Credit Union until finally retiring from First Ontario Credit Union in 2002. Throughout her life she developed many close friendships and spent her golden years spoiling her grandchildren.

Madeleine is survived by her children Stephen Lampkin (Josie) and Colleen Wright (Dennis) as well as her six grandchildren Samantha (Leonardo), Sara (Joseph), Kirsten, Kayla, Joshua, Candice and Jacob. She will also be leaving behind her three great grandchildren Jax, Elizabeth and Maverick, her sisters Kay Kolbec (Gary), Rosalene Rosicki (Mike) and Tom Flanagan (the late Marnie). Madeleine was predeceased by her husband Gord Abbott, and parents James and Ethel Flanagan, and sisters Patricia Flanagan, Bridget Fletcher, Cecilia Davidson, and Maureen Bodden.

Cremation has already taken place and a small service will be held at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home located at 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Tuesday, April 30th. Her viewing will take place between 11 a.m.-1 p.m., with a short service to follow. Madeleine’s family would especially like to thank the staff who worked at St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas, who went above and beyond to care for her in her final days; dying her hair, painting her nails and allowing her to feel like her old self. If so desired, in lieu of flowers the family asks for donations be directed to St. Joseph’s Villa on Governor’s Road in Dundas, Ontario.

The family asks that anyone planning to attend to wear green, in honour of her favourite colour.
